More Details
French media L’Équipe has now confirmed the initial reporting from The Athletic that Ligue 1 side, Lyon have submitted a €25m bid for Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic.
Christian Pulisic is set on joining AC Milan after they made an offer to Chelsea on Sunday as he is not interested in a move to France but the initial £12m ($15m) bid falls short of Chelsea’s valuation and a slightly better bid which has been proffered by Lyon may be considered.
However, despite Lyon’s spirited attempts to sign the USA international, Mail Sport believes Pulisic has set his mind on joining Milan.
In any case, Lyon will need to pass their upcoming hearing with the DNCG, the French football’s financial watchdog before being able to complete any signings due to their current financial situation and budget as they await confirmation if the club can participate in Ligue 1 next season.
Lyon American president, John Textor will notably need to provide documentation showing that the cost-saving measures he intends to implement are doable, a plan which reportedly includes the sale of players to bring in a projected €70m.
The 24-year-old United States international had emerged as the club’s priority signing, and has now been the subject of a €25m bid, which would also include a sell-on clause.
The offer from Milan, plus Pulisic’s estimated salary of around £12.8m would mean the transaction would save Chelsea an initial £24.8m. However, Chelsea are pushing for more.
Mail Sport understands too that Milan have an outline agreement on a contract ready for Pulisic and want him to line up alongside former Chelsea players Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud.
Meanwhile…
Régis Le Bris’ time at Lorient which included a decade-long spell in charge of the academy looked to be coming to an end this summer amid a reported spate of disagreements with the club’s upper hierarchy.
The schism came in the midst of interest from Nice who have since opted to hire 34-year-old Italian Francesco Farioli – while potential opportunities from abroad have also emerged.

According to L’Équipe this morning, dialogue between Le Bris and president Loïc Féry has resumed, after a clash over the former’s requests regarding transfers and an improvement in club infrastructures.
The latter had been insistent on keeping the head coach at the club amid interest from Nice, with his contract still active for another four years as culled from Get French Football News.
The pair have already met once with pre-season starting today and the overriding feeling is that of a slight détente but that doesn’t stop the team from returning to the training ground on Wednesday, once the players’ medical exams are complete.
