Alonso has guided Leverkusen to the top of the Bundesliga table and is now having an incredible season with the team.
In addition, the former Liverpool midfielder led the German team into the DFB-Pokal semifinals and the Europa League knockout stages. The Reds are thought to be monitoring two players from Alonso’s team in addition to the Leverkusen manager, with whom they are still linked.
Liverpool deployed scouts to closely observe Wirtz and Hincapie during Saturday’s pivotal 3-0 victory over defending champion Bayern Munich, according to The Mirror. Alex Grimaldo, Jeremie Frimpong, and Josip Stanisic all scored to increase Leverkusen’s lead at the top of the table to five points.
Normally a middle of defender, Hincapie was used as a left back in the convincing victory over Leverkusen’s championship rivals. Similar to Hincapie, Wirtz played the entire game, filling the position of number ten behind forward Amine Adli.
