The 34 year old left Bayern Munich to take up a new challenge in Spain and just like he’s been doing in La Liga since his arrival, he took his scoring prowess to the Champions League last night as he got himself a hat trick in the Blaugrana’s 5-1 victory.
Lewandowski with his hat trick became the first player in champions League history to net a treble for three different clubs in the competition.
He netted three on four different occasions for Bayern Munich, once for Borussia Dortmund and now another for Barcelona.
He also moved clear of Karim Benzema on the all time top scorers list with 89 goals to his name after Wednesday’s exploits to leave the Frenchman on 86.

Both clubs played a barren encounter until the 90th minute when the game came alive.
Mario Hermoso thought he had won the game for his side when he scored from Angel Correa’s ball to put the home side ahead.
Porto however responded well through the penalty spot as Mateus Uribe shot past Jan Oblak.
The game was heading for a share of the spoils until Antoine Griezmann scored a winner deep into added time to snatch victory for Diego Simeone’s side.
With those three goals, the game became only the second match in the competition’s history to have three or more goals scored after the 90th minute excluding extra time. The only other game was Porto against Atletico Madrid in December 2021.
