Roberto De Zerbi Tipped As Future Barcelona Manager

Written by Olaleye Oluwadamilola

It’s no surprise as to why Roberto De Zerbi has been previously linked to the Real Madrid job (in respect of his exploits at EPL side Brighton) due to the uncertainty over Brazil NT bound Carlo Ancelotti whose current deal ends this campaign and with no sign of talks of a contract extension, the rumors have gained grounds but in another big twist, the Italian tactician has been tipped for future managerial role at Barcelona, another football giant in Spain.

More Details

The Italian has developed a reputation as one of the best coaches in Europe in recent months after guiding the Seagulls to a first ever European qualification spot at the end of the 2022/23 season and the Brighton & Hove Albion head coach could be a future candidate to manage Barcelona.

It might not happen anytime soon with Xavi Hernandez set to be around for some more years beyond his current deal as De Zerbi’s current contract at the Amex Stadium runs until 2026 and he is also on the radar of rival Premier League sides and potentially Real Madrid which makes the competition for his signature so fierce.

However, his tactical approach fits well with Barcelona’s own style and ahead of La Blaugrana’s Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk, Georgiy Sudakov who played under De Zerbi during his time in charge at the Ukrainian side in the 2021/22 campaign has predicted De Zerbi could one day manage in Catalonia.

As per reports from Diario Sport, Sudakov: “I’m sure Roberto De Zerbi will lead one of the giants of football in future. He’s a very solid coach, I remember him as a very impulsive person. I think De Zerbi can coach any team in the world, that doesn’t matter if it’s Manchester City or Barcelona.”

Meanwhile…

Barcelona are growing increasingly concerned over Clement Lenglet’s lack of action at Aston Villa after the French defender secured a season long loan deal to the EPL outfit in the final days of the summer transfer window following his return from Premier League rivals Tottenham.

He is yet to feature in the Premier League for Emery and with Villa impressive in the opening weeks of the season, and Barcelona are now assessing their options.

As per Diario Sport, Barcelona are not considering a move to bring Lenglet back in January, with Villa also not including a purchase option in the move, but a lack of action in English football will reduce his overall transfer value.
