The Brazilian international’s two goals either side of halftime helped Carlo Ancelotti’s team defeat Osasuna 2-1 in the championship, bringing his season total of goals scored in all competitions to 16.
With their first Copa del Rey victory since 2014, Los Blancos reduced some of the burden on Ancelotti, as their La Liga title defence is already over.
“I am very happy. We talked this week about how Madrid hadn’t won this competition for a long time and, personally, I was missing it too”, as per reports from Diario AS.
“I’ve scored two goals and it’s been a very special night for me.
“But, I want more, much more. This competition is special and today I was able to win it.”
For Real Madrid under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti in their semi-final matchup with City last year, Rodrygo was a crucial player.
His two goals in the second leg necessitated extra time in Madrid, which was eventually won by captain Karim Benzema after an additional 30 minutes.

Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, has stated again how much he wants to keep Carlo Ancelotti with the team.
Los Blancos defeated Osasuna 2-1 in the Copa del Rey final match at the Estadio de La Cartuja, giving Ancelotti his first domestic title of the year.
Even though he returned to the Spanish capital last summer and won both the La Liga and Champions League, the Italian tactician is under pressure in Madrid. Barcelona are easily winning the championship, and next week’s Champions league semifinal will pit Ancelotti’s team against Manchester City.
