It’s been a drama filled week for Italian giants, AS Roma as we see another major exit from the club after the recent sacking of Daniele De Rossi as coach and the subsequent appointment of Ivan Juric as his replacement.

It has now been announced that club CEO, Lina Souloukou has resigned from her role, with reports she was behind the sacking of the club legend. According to recent reports, Souloukou has been placed under police protection after get threats from fans over the sacking of De Rossi.

She had only taken the role in April 2023, after her experience as CEO of Olympia cos. The club shocked everyone this week when suddenly announcing that their coach had been fired, despite only recently signing a new contract.
This is the second major dismissal at the club after Jose Mourinho was sacked in mid-January to make way for De Rossi. It was assumed that there were behind the scenes issues causing the dismissal and some have pointed the finger of blame at their CEO.
Some have taken their anger too far and reportedly made threats, to the degree that several reports claim that Souloukou and her children have been placed under police protection. This is believed to be only a precaution and not a full-on police escort, but more of an enhanced security sweep.
The matter was supposed to be evaluated by the authorities over the next few days to decide whether to continue or even step up the protection protocol, but she has taken the decision to step down. “AS Roma announces today that CEO Lina Souloukou has stepped down from her role,” read a statement from the club.
“We thank Lina for her dedicated service during a critical period for the club and wish her the best in her future endeavors. “The ownership remains fully committed to AS Roma’s growth and success, with continued focus on the values that make our club so special.” The statement further read.

Tension is sky high ahead of Sunday’s Serie A match between Roma and Udinese, where new coach, Juric will make his debut. It Is believed that the former Torino manager has a clause allowing him to extend by another year if he qualifies the Giallorossi for the Champions League.
