More Details
The Friedkin Group and Everton confirmed in a joint statement today that they had reached an agreement over the club’s takeover, with some reports claiming that the Roma owner would invest around €500m in acquiring the Toffees. However, this doesn’t mean they’ll be looking to sell the Giallorossi.
“This acquisition doesn’t mean they’ll withdraw from Roma,” Sky Sport Italia correspondent Angelo Mangiante said live from Roma training centre Trigoria on Monday afternoon.“We know there will be a split, with Dan Friedkin more present in Liverpool, in the new club, because being part of the Premier League was one of their targets.

It’s a league where Everton sit rock bottom with one draw and four defeats, but as they said [in the statement], they want to guarantee stability for the future.“They also said that they are committed to completing the new stadium. This was an extra element that convinced Friedkin to make this investment, and they have the same target here in Rome,” continued Mangiante.
“On these two fronts, Dan will be closer to the Premier League, while his son Ryan will follow Roma closely, but they won’t quit.” The Friedkins are under fire in the Italian capital following the dismissal of club legend Daniele De Rossi after just four games. The former midfielder was suddenly fired last week, leading to protests in the streets and on social media.
CEO Lina Souloukou was placed under police protection and resigned on Sunday, hours before a Serie A match against Udinese. The Giallorossi won 3-0 under new coach Ivan Juric, but fans continued protesting and booed some of their players, including Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Perhaps the issue surrounding the protest that forced the resignation of the CEO is the reason why the Friedkins have now put out a statement for Roma fans, insisting that the new endeavour will only come to help the Giallorossi.
The owners have insisted that the new deal will have no impact on the day-to-day running of either club, and claims that the new partnership with Everton will only come to help the Giallorossi in the near future. “We remain active investors in the sports industry. We love the beautiful game.
“The potential addition of Everton to our portfolio does not alter our focus on AS Roma. If anything, the multi-club symbiosis will only help Roma,” the Friedkins wrote in a statement. They continued: “Each club in our portfolio operates independently and AS Roma remains at the heart of our football ambitions. Rest assured, our commitment of time, resources, and energy will not be diminished.
“Our goal is clear – to see AS Roma consistently compete at the highest levels of European football.“To our incredible fans, we acknowledge the immense responsibility we bear in leading this historic club. Your unwavering loyalty fuels us as we continue building for the future. “We value your voices and want you to know — we hear you. You are the soul of this club, and we are determined to make you proud.”
The Friedkin Group, who own a 95.97% stake in the Giallorossi, also put out a statement on the exit of De Rossi. “Let us say this; we have the utmost respect for Daniele and believe he will have a great career as a coach. Maybe even one day back at Roma,” a statement on the club website read.
