Roma’s Serie A Title Charge Has Been Boosted By The Return Of Two Forwards
After 12 round of matches played so far in the 2025-26 Serie A season, the title race is still not very clear as we have just seven points separating the team in first place, Roma from Juventus who occupy the seventh position and with lots of matches left to be played, anything can still happen.

Meanwhile, for the Giallorossi, occupying this position is not a normal occurrence, even at this stage of the season, which is perhaps the reason why the belief that they can go all the way in the title race this season is starting to grow within the club, from the coach to the players and their fans.

Perhaps this is why Gianluca Mancini was delighted to see his side sit at the top of the Serie A standings as the Italy international was the recipient of the Beppe Viola award on Monday evening and he had these to say after receiving the prestigious award due to his performance with the club.
“This is a valued award, I am honoured and proud. On the pitch, we are examples for youngsters and those who watch us,” Mancini told reporters at the event. Roma currently sit alone at the top of the Serie A standings after their 3-1 win away against Cremonese on Sunday.
The result from the Milan derby meant that the Giallorossi are currently two points clear at the top of the standings and despite his side’s promising start to the season, which has seen them win nine matches in Serie A, Mancini warns that there is still a long way if Roma are to win the Scudetto this season.
“We’re still just at the beginning of the season, we’re in November and it’s a long season. Yes, we are first today, but we’re not in May yet and we have to keep our feet on the ground. We’re worked hard in every game, we have to carry on like that and keep doing what we’re doing,” Mancini said.
Still, he feels that Gian Piero Gasperini has all the tools at his disposal to succeed in Serie A this term. “The conditions are there, we have a lot of quality and our group has what it takes. As the coach has said, everyone can dream, in sport and in life. The important thing is to work hard and we have to be focused on doing that.”
“Scoring is a beautiful feeling, even more so for us defenders because we don’t get to do it very often. It’s another way of helping the team win. With the way the coach plays, I can step up and be even more dangerous.” He further added in the interview while receiving the award.
Mancini also sent a quick message to supporters of the national team following the confirmation that Italy will have to go through the play-offs to earn a spot at the 2026 World Cup. “We want to get to the World Cup, you all want it. We have to stand together to achieve this goal.” He further added.

In a related development, according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Paulo Dybala and Leon Bailey have recovered from injuries and are expected to be available for a big Serie A match against Napoli on Sunday night in what will be another title decider after the recent Milan Derby.
The club from the eternal city are confident that the two players will be available for the next Serie A game at the Stadio Olimpico as both attackers had been forced to the sidelines due to bicep femoris injuries in previous weeks in what appeared to be an injury crisis for the club.
Now, the pair have resumed regular training with the rest of the team at Trigoria this week, even taking part in a training match on a pitch with reduced dimensions. Dybala and Bailey could even go on the bench in the upcoming Europa League game against Midtjylland on Thursday.

Hence, the club is confident they’ll be fully recovered for this weekend. Dybala has two goals and one assist in nine games across all competitions this season, while Bailey hasn’t contributed to any goals in just five appearances and 166 minutes of football.
