Sampdoria Appoint D'Aversa - Sports Blog by Bettitude

Italian Serie A side, Sampdoria have confirmed the capture of Roberto D’Aversa as manager of their first team.

In a statement on the club’s official website, the club said that : “UC Sampdoria can confirm that Roberto D’Aversa has been appointed as the new coach of the first team.”

The statement went on to say that “D’Aversa has signed a contract running through to 30 June 2023.”

Robert D’Aversa replaces Claudio Ranieri at the club after the former Leicester boss departed the club at the expiry of his contract this summer. D’Aversa was with Parma last season for a second spell at the club but his appointment in mid-season wasn’t enough to save the club from relegation to Serie B.

In his first spell at Parma, he led the club to back-to-back promotions from Serie C to Serie A and kept them in the Italian too flight in his first season before he was sacked in 2020 for what the club described as lack of unity and enthusiasm.
