The All-Star weekend is upon us, and to set up the week, the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) held an official draft for the two teams participating in the festivities.

Captains A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart alternated picks, trades, and commentary on ESPN this past Saturday.

Wilson picked first, taking Chicago Sky star Candace Parker as the first overall selection.

Stewart countered by selecting Wilson’s Aces teammate, Jackie Young, with the second pick.

Of the remaining starters, Wilson chose Kelsey Plum and Nneka Ogwumike, while Stewart tabbed Jonquel Jones and Sabrina Ionescu.

In something of a twist, Wilson and Stewart also agreed on a few trades.

Most notably, they swapped co-captains in a hilarious example of rule-bending, with Sue Bird joining Team Stewart and Sylvia Fowles suiting up for Team Wilson.

They also traded Ogwumike and Ionescu for one another, with Ogwumike joining Team Stewart and Ionescu hopping aboard Team Wilson.

The selection of the reserves was a slightly more straightforward experience.

Wilson chose Ariel Atkins, Dearica Hamby, Natasha Howard, Rhyne Howard, Brionna Jones, and Courtney Vandersloot.

Stewart picked up Kahleah Copper, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Jewell Loyd, Emma Meesseman, Arike Ogunbowale, and Alyssa Thomas.

Team Wilson will be coached by Becky Hammon, and Team Stewart by James Wade, recently named the WNBA’s Coach of the Month for June.

All-Star week is just getting started, and there’s no better time to watch all of your favorite players in the same game.
