Serie A Clubs Set To Raid Chelsea For Some Of Their Fringe Players
Written By Onyeka Daniel
The January transfer window is in full swing and clubs are already hard at work at finding players that can help them navigate the second half of the season, given the constraints, especially for Italian clubs that can’t afford to make huge splashes in terms of transfer fee.

This is the main reason why they’re targeting unwanted players from other clubs, looking to bring them on loan and for EPL side, Chelsea, they’ve some of those players aplenty. Consequently, reports in Italy are claiming that Juventus will meet them this week to discuss both Renato Veiga and Ben Chilwell.

This move will become important, especially if Manchester City stump up the cash for Andrea Cambiaso. There had already been suggestions from Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano recently that Veiga was the latest name on the Juve wish-list to reinforce their defence.
Now Sportitalia expert Alfredo Pedullà claims that there is a summit planned with Chelsea for Juventus directors soon that will involve two names. The other Is Chilwell, who had already been linked with the Bianconeri back in November and seems to have no real future at Stamford Bridge.
While Veiga can also play left-back, he would primarily be brought in to cover for long-term injury absentee Gleison Bremer in central defence. Chilwell could cover the gap if Juventus were to sell Cambiaso to City, who are ready to pay over €70m to purchase the Italy international defender.
Newcastle United player Lloyd Kelly also remains on the radar, as Juve seem to be shopping in the Premier League for reinforcements in the January window. For another Italian side, AC Milan, they’re not to be left out and are not giving up on their pursuit of Portugal international Joao Felix.
Hence, they’re reportedly planning to offer Chelsea a new set of terms for the 25-year-old forward according to recent updates. Milan are on the lookout for a new attacking reinforcement this January to help Sergio Conceicao in his mission to finish the 2024-25 season in the top four at least.
Though the Rossoneri had been in talks with Manchester United over a loan deal for Marcus Rashford, they have since turned their attention to Stamford Bridge for a possible deal with Chelsea instead, as they’re only able to sign either one of Rashford or Kyle Walker and they seem to have settled on the English defender.
According to earlier reports, the Blues are not prepared to send Joao Felix out on a straight loan deal for the remainder of the season, as they consider him an important member of the first-team. However, according to reports from Calciomercato, Milan are considering going back in with another type of loan offer.
This new report claims that the Rossoneri could offer an 18-month loan deal with an option to buy in the region of €35 for the summer of 2026, at which point Joao Felix will still have four years remaining on his contract. The wish of the player could play a crucial part.
He might be tempted to jump ship after falling down the pecking order under Enzo Maresca recently. In a related development, Sky Sport Italia report that Lazio are closing the gap with Chelsea for Cesare Casadei, hoping to beat Torino with the inclusion of performance-related bonuses.

The midfielder is looking for a return to Italian football after struggling for playing time in loan spells at Reading FC and Leicester City, then back to Stamford Bridge this season with the large number of players at the club hampering his progress towards regular playing time.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Torino had proposed a deal worth €9m plus bonuses including a 40 per cent cut of the future sale fee. However, Lazio held new negotiations over the last few days and believe they have closed the gap from demand and offer to just €2m.
That could be bridged with the inclusion of add-ons and performance-related bonuses, specifically €13m plus €2m in extras. An earlier report had already noted earlier this week that Casadei had a preference for Lazio, feeling they could give him a better chance of getting into the senior Italy squad.

An Inter academy youth product, Chelsea paid €14.86m plus up to €5m in add-ons to sign him in the summer of 2022. Between now and before the closing of the transfer window, he will take his time to decide on his next step that could probably decide his career path as the Chelsea experiment doesn’t seem to be working out.
