Serie A Coach Could Be Set For A Move To Saudi Arabia After Leaving Italy

Written By Onyeka Daniel

In the last summer transfer window, there was a huge influx of players from Europe into the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia with their offer of a huge salary for players entering the twilight of their careers and we also saw a few managers make the jump to the oil rich nation.

With the next summer transfer window a few weeks away, it’s still unknown if there will be another mass signing of players and coaches, but it looks like there could be one promising prospect already.

Italian tactician, Massimiliano Allegri could be heading towards the Saudi Pro League, as his agent was spotted visiting Al Ittihad after the shock Juventus dismissal.

Although it had been widely expected that he would be sacked this summer, despite his contract running to June 2025, few believed he wouldn’t be allowed to see out the season. He was fired for behaviour ‘incompatible with the club values’ during and after the Coppa Italia Final victory over Atalanta last week.

There do not seem to be any Italian teams interested in taking Allegri on, so he could well head abroad for his next role. It therefore raised eyebrows when his agent Giovanni Branchini was photographed in Saudi Arabia today, visiting Al Ittihad director Ramon Blanes.

Marcelo Gallardo was hired in November 2023, but the club is already looking elsewhere and Allegri would fit the bill. It should be recalled that his friend and mentor, Giovanni Galeone did say that Allegri would not be going to Saudi Arabia as he wasn’t in need of money.

But then, perhaps he was wrong after all, just like he could be about the sacking, terming it as ‘unfair’. Marca have also suggested that the Italian coach is an option for the Al Ittihad job.

Thiago Motta remains under contract with Bologna for a few more days, and they want him to sign a new contract. However, Juve wants him to become their new manager and has already tabled an offer for his signature.

Motta has said he will soon make a decision on his future, and both Juve and Bologna are confident he will choose them. The decision now rests with Motta, and everyone is waiting for his final choice, but he seems inclined to join Juve.

To make this move, he must leave Bologna. Out of respect for them, he has agreed to one more meeting to discuss his future. A report on Il Bianconero reveals that Motta plans to ask for total control over the team and key decision-making, including player signings.

This demand is likely to be difficult for Bologna’s owners to accept, and if his wishes are not met, he will walk away from the team. Of course, he knows he may not get another chance to manage a top club like Juventus and will do all he can to accept our offer before the opportunity passes.
