Written by Dare Solomon
Serie A top trainers, Jose Mourinho, Simone Inzaghi, Luciano Spalletti and Gian Piero Gasperini have been given a touchline ban following their red cards on matchday 9 in their respective matches.
More Details
The show of cards started with Atalanta coach, Gasperini who got himself sent off for infringements and disrespectful explosions towards the officials in his team’s 1-1 draw to Udinese. The former Genoa coach will also pay a fine of €5,000 along with his immediate suspension.
In the game involving AS Roma and Napoli, both Mourinho and Spalletti were walked off the pitch following their misconduct. Mourinho, (double yellow card) blatantly and vehemently contested an arbitration decision which was reported as infringement by the fourth Officer.
Spalletti’s misconduct came after the final whistle in the goalless draw in Rome. The former Roma coach was given a red card for clapping at the referee which he insists was an appraisal not sarcasm. Spalletti will also pay a fine of €5,000.
Inter Milan coach, Simone Inzaghi just as Mourinho will only serve a match ban having blatantly and vehemently contested an arbitration decision in the Italian Derby.
Roma will also have to pay a €10,000 fine for their fans echoing insulting local chants towards the supporters of the opposing team.
Meanwhile…
Looks like there’s more to investigate in the Roma-Napoli game as reports of racial chants directed toward Nigerian International, Victor Osimhen from some parts of the Roma stands.
The Sports Judge, in relation to the discriminatory chorus of racial matrix against Osimhen provided a supplement of preliminary assessment that specifies in detail the duration and size of the echo itself, confirming that the chant was not repeated after announcements were made.
This is not the first time the Napoli forward will be racially insulted this season as Osimhen alongside Kalidou Koulibaly, and Zambo Anguissa in their 2-1 win over Fiorentina were racial abused by some fans of the Viola.
Osimhen has not said a word in relation to the shameful incident in Rome but his response on Twitter after the Fiorentina match still rings.
“Speak to your kids, your parents, make them understand how disgusting it is to hate an individual because of the color of their skin, NOTORACISM.”
