Top athletes were at their best at the Diamond League which moved to the city of Silesia, Poland at the weekend even amidst the Commonwealth Games and the U-20 World Athletics Championships.

Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce continued to show her top class level on the tracks as she won the women’s 100 metres at the Silesia Diamond League on Saturday.

The Jamaican took a resounding victory, storming to a Meet Record of 10.66s to beat Aleia Hobbs of the USA with a time of 10.94s and Marie-Josée Ta Lou who bronze in 11.00s.

Her compatriot Shericka Jackson cemented her status as favourite for the Diamond Trophy with an impressive win in the women’s 200m.

The world champion was way ahead of the field, winning in a blistering 21.84s (-0.2) ahead of Shaunae Miller-Uibo who managed to come through for second in 22.35s while Jenna Prandini of USA finished 3rd in 22.39s.

Jasmine Camacho Quinn took a stunning meeting record 12.34 in the non-DL 100m hurdles.

USA Trayvon Bromell ran 9.95s to get his second win of the season in the men’s 100m, and that’s enough to send him top of the standings and into the Diamond League final.

Femke Bol ran a meeting record of 49.75 to victory and a Dutch record in the 400m.

It was a similar situation in the men’s 400m as Mike Norman broke the meeting record (44.11) to claim his second win of the season and stormed into the final.

Brazilian Alison Dos Santos picked up his fifth win of the 2022 Diamond League season after running 47.81 to win the men’s 400mh.

Ajee Wilson with a rime of 1:58.25 to get her first Diamond League win of the season in the women’s 800m.

Sifan Hassan with a 8:39.27 time claimed her first Diamond League win of the season in the women’s 3000m.

Meanwhile…

World record holder, Armand Duplantis of Sweden won the pole vault with 6.10m. It was a meeting record.

In his second vault of the competition, he cleared 5.83m and was already the last man standing. To the delight of the crowd, he made a first-time clearance at 6.00m. He then targeted an outdoor all-comers’ record of 6.10m and although the bar wobbled, he succeeded at the third attempt to thrill an appreciative audience.

Ealey Chase of the USA maintained her 100% in this season’s Diamond League with a brilliant 3rd round effort of 20.38, a meeting record also to win the shot put event.

Haruka Kitaguchi snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the Final 3, stealing her way into top spot with the very last throw of the competition. She threw 65.10 to win the Javelin event.

In the men’s long jump, Miltiadis Tentoglou of Greece was another Olympic gold medallist looking to go one better than his second place in Eugene. And it was mission accomplished as he set a meeting record of 8.13m in the fifth round to maintain his 100 percent record in the Diamond League this season.
