Spanish football yet again won big at the recently held 2022 Ballon d’Or awards in which players from the male and female leagues of the La Roja nation scooped the most important awards on the night.

Real Madrid captain and last season’s most important footballer player Karim Benzema deservedly won the Golden Ball as the best male player for the year 2022.
The French international won ahead of Senegal and Bayern Munich’s Sadio Mane while Belgium and Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne placed third.
It was also victory for Spanish football in the female category as Alexia Putellas of Barcelona and the Spanish women team won her second consecutive award after being crowned for the first time last year.
She got the better of Arsenal and England’s Beth Mead while Sam Kerr of Chelsea and the Australian women team came third.

Real Madrid and Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was recognized for his outstanding performances especially for Real Madrid as he was awarded the Yachine trophy for the best goalkeeper award.
The shot-stopper had an outstanding campaign between the sticks for the Galacticos and was deservedly recognized for his efforts in helping them win the La Liga and Champions League trophies.

Exciting Barcelona wonder kid Pablo Gavira won the Kopa trophy for the best U-21 player. The 18 year old was recognized ahead of players like Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund and England, Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich and Germany and Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid and France.
Barcelona and Polish striker Robert Lewandowski won the Gerd Muller award for the best striker award being recognition for his exploits for Bayern Munich last season.
The Polish striker was yet again outstanding in the past season as he won the Bundesliga top scorer award whilst lifting the league title with Bayern.
Other winners on the night were Sadio Mane who won the Socrates award for the humanitarian work he does for his home village while Manchester City were named as the club of the year.
