Spanish Super Cup: Barcelona Set For Fiery Jeddah Showdown Against Real Madrid
Saudi Arabia will host another epic El Clasico tomorrow this time in the Spanish Super Cup against bitter rivals Real Madrid after both sides eased past Athletic Club and Atletico Madrid respectively.

Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet in the final of the Spanish Super Cup for the fourth consecutive time, reinforcing a rivalry that has increasingly become the stage for the season’s first piece of silverware.
Recent finals have slightly favoured the blaugrana who currently hold a 2–1 edge. Barça triumphed in the 2022/23 final with a 3–1 victory courtesy of goals from Gavi, Lewandowski and Pedri. They followed that up last year by lifting their 15th Super Cup title after a dominant 5–2 win under Hansi Flick in the 2024/25 edition.
Notably, that encounter was also played at the King Abdulaziz Sports City, the same venue set to host this latest showdown. Real Madrid’s lone success in this run came in the 2023/24 final, when they claimed a 4–1 win over Barcelona.

The rivalry extends beyond finals. The two sides also clashed in the 2021/22 semi-finals, where Madrid edged Barça 3–2 to progress.
This final carries added significance for Barcelona, who have the chance to defend the title, an achievement no team has managed in the last 15 years. Victory would also end another long-standing trend, with eight years having passed since a reigning league champion last went on to win the Supercopa the following season.
Overall, Barcelona and Real Madrid have faced each other 18 times in the competition across its various formats. Madrid hold the upper hand historically with 10 wins to Barça’s six, alongside two draws.
