The Saudi Pro League made its return on Friday evening with an unpredictability synonymous with the apex football league in the Kingdom.

Three matches were played on Friday evening with results differing in expectations in each of the games.

Al Fateh were the biggest winners of the day as they came from behind to condemn reigning Asian champions Al Ahli to defeat.

Jose Gomes’ side were the less fancied side going into the tie and expectedly, they fell behind to a Valentin Antangana goal in the 22nd minute.

The visitors couldn’t add to the scoreline as they became sloppy after getting ahead in the game.

Matias Vargas then scored againt the run of play in the 43rd minute to level the scores.

He would score again two minutes after the restart to give his side an unexpected lead againt the Asian champions.

Fortunately, the home side held on for the reminder of the game as they recorded their first win in four in all competitions.

With the rare win, Al Fateh moves away from the relegation zone and leave Al Ahli in fourth pending other results.

In the other fixture played concurrently,  Zambrano Mendez’ goal and an own goal by William Troost Ekong handed visiting Al Taawoun victory over Al Kholood.

Des Buckingham’s side had no response to Pericles Chamusca’s highflying side as they continue their incredible start to the season.
