Stockholm Diamond League: Camacho-Quinn Beat Amusan To First Spot, Simbine Wins Men’s 100m

Despite the push from African champion, Tobi Amusan, Olympic Champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn emerged victorious in the women’s 100m hurdles.

Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn took the women’s 100m hurdles event at the Stockholm Diamond League on Thursday evening.
The Olympic champion held off stiff competition from African champion and Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan clocking a time of 12.46s (-0.5) to win.

“Victory is victory, I felt a bit affected by the top, although I knew what I had to do in this stadium despite the sensations. I think I was a bit mediocre between fences 4 and 8. I think I could have run better. I saw no improvement in this race. I think I’m running on the safe side. That’s it,” she told the Diamond League.
Amusan stayed with her and finished second in 12.50s, with World Champion Nia Ali, third in 12.53s while former world champion Danielle Williams came fourth in 12.59s.
Camacho Quinn and Amusan currently sit in third and fourth in the rankings this year.
The next stop for the two athletes is the world championship at Oregon which starts on July 15.

Akani Simbine of South Africa got his first Diamond League victory of the season after producing a season’s best to emerge victorious in the men’s 100 metres.
The African record holder with his time of 10.02s (- 0.5) was ahead of Reece Prescod of Britain who came second in 10.15s and Jimmy Vicaut in third after his 10.19s time.

Olympic champion, Marcell Jacobs couldn’t not start a couple of hours to the race after a “glut discomfort”.
The win is Simbe’s fourth diamond League victory in his career.
