Strong Reason United Could Appoint Carlo Ancelotti As Their New Manager

The former Chelsea and Everton boss could be on the cards for a return to the Premier League due to his cordial relationship with United’s star man.

Carlo Ancelotti according to The Times is being linked to take up the Manchester United job next summer should Ralf Rangnick not secure the managerial position on a permanent basis.

Ancelotti is currently in his second spell with Real Madrid after leaving Premier League side Everton at the end of last season.

Recent reports are however linking the Italian with a reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo who also left Juventus in the summer to return to Old Trafford.

Both men had a warm two years together at the Bernabeu where they helped Madrid secure their tenth Champions League title (La Decima) in 2014.

Ronaldo has been muted to depart Old Trafford this summer as situations continue to work against him especially since Rangnick took over.

The lure of having to reunite with Ancelotti may however be appealing to the five time Ballon d’Or winner and this as well could mean the end of the search for Manchester United who have Mauricio Pochettino and Erik Ten Hag as their primary targets.

“Mr. Ancelotti was an unbelievable surprise,” Ronaldo told ESPN in 2015.

“In the beginning, I thought he was more a tough person, kind of arrogant – but it was the opposite.

“He’s like a big bear, I’d say! He’s a cute guy, such a sensitive person.

“He spoke with us every day. Not just with me but with all the players. He had fun with us.

“He’s an unbelievable person. I just wish every player could have an opportunity to work with him because he’s a fantastic guy, a fantastic coach, and I miss him a lot because we won many trophies together.

“I wish to work with him again one day. But now I’m good, I have a new coach and I’m happy too, but it’s great I have good memories.”

Manchester United by their standards are currently having a dismal season under interim coach Ralf Rangnick who has so far struggled to get the best out of his players.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has opened up on his future as he admits Chelsea are a perfect fit for him and loves working in the Premier League.

Tuchel arrived Chelsea in January 2020 and in just a few months oversaw their March to Champions League triumph after which they lifted the Super Cup and Club World Cup titles.

Speaking ahead of their weekend match against Burnley, Tuchel said of his intentions to continue at Stamford Bridge for as long as a possible.

“No. The opposite of problems staying here. I said many times I love working in Premier League. I love to be in England and feel the tradition and love for sports in general and football in particular. It’s an amazing place to be. Chelsea, for me, is a perfect fit. I love to be here. I love everything about the club. Hopefully it continues. There is not an uncertainty, but isn’t it always as a football manager? I am used and trained to live with it. Of course, different levels and this is quite a level I have to be honest. I am positive, I hope things will end well.”

When asked about the summer transfer window, he revealed that there are only ideas and not plans as of this period.

“Yeah (it’s on hold). To be very honest there are no talks about summer, not with Marina or Petr. It’s simply too early. There are always ideas and reflections on the subject but the main focus was on the last weeks, even without the noise. On the different competitions to be as successful as we can only be and to bring out the best in our team where we had some work to do, still have work to do to constantly improve. We are in a good place at the moment. I feel the team again growing, getting better and better. No worries in this particular case until summer, it’s still a long way to go.”
