The football agent, who spoke several languages, worked his way up from humble beginnings to become one of the most influential figures in the world game, brokering mega-deals involving some of the most prominent players.
Raiola rose to prominence in the Netherlands and Italy in the 1990s and was involved in the deals that saw Dennis Bergkamp and Pavel Nedved move to the Serie A. He was representative to the likes of Pogba, Haaland, Ibrahimovic, Romelu Lukaku, Mario Balotelli, Marco Verratti and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
It was reported that Raiola earned as much as £20million from the world record £89m sale of Pogba from Juventus to Manchester United in 2016.
He was also expected to pocket similar sum from the expected transfer of Haaland away from Borussia Dortmund to a yet to be known club, while the Pogba is also expected to leave Manchester United in the summer as a free agent and he was expected to handle the negotiations with potential suitors.
Forbes estimated last year that Raiola’s personal wealth was in the region of £62m and he has been very vocal against the calls for a salary cap to be introduced for players and agents.
Meanwhile…
News filtered in two days ago that the Italian was dead and it quickly spread out before the story was later debunked by several reliable sources and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano even released a statement from Raiola as proof that he’s still alive.
A statement shared by Raiola’s family on his Twitter account read: “In infinite sorrow we share the passing of the most caring and amazing football agent that ever was. “Mino fought until the end with the same strength he put on negotiation tables to defend our players.
