More Details

Due to two distinct ailments this season, Casemiro has only appeared in one game since the beginning of October. His most recent problem is related to his hamstring, which has prevented him from playing since November 1. Martinez, meantime, has not played for the Red Devils since September 20 due to the necessity of having his second foot surgery of the year. Martinez is an international player for Argentina.

The Argentina international came back for the start of preseason training after having surgery in April to repair the fractured metatarsal he sustained when playing Sevilla in the Europa League. However, complications in the same location earlier in the season necessitated additional surgery.

Ten Hag also disclosed last month that Casemiro was expected back this month; the two could be eligible for the January 14 Premier League matchup against Tottenham Hotspur.

“Manchester United duo Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez have returned to full training at Carrington, as they step up their recoveries from respective injuries this season,” read a statement on Man United’s official website.

“The South American duo have been training individually alongside medical staff in recent months and all their hard work – and patience – is close to paying off. Casemiro and Martinez trained on the grass with the full squad on Wednesday, signifying they are edging ever closer to being back in action.”

Meanwhile…

Erik ten Hag is anxious to prevent Jadon Sancho from making a “empty gesture,” therefore Manchester United is apparently willing to accept a “significant loss” on him.

Sancho has a disruptive impact on the rest of United’s team, according to manager Ten Hag, who is determined to get rid of the winger.

This season, Sancho and Ten Hag had a nasty falling out, with the Dutchman publicly criticizing his player in the media for his lack of effort in practice. After spending £73 million on him in 2021, United is now willing to suffer a “significant loss” on the player in the January transfer window.
