The Philippines Pick Maiden World Cup Ticket

The Philippines will be participating at the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time come 2023 when Australia and New Zealand will host the tournament after picking one of the four tickets up for grabs at the ongoing 2022 AFC Asian Women’s Cup.

The Philippines picked the ticket after defeating Chinese Taipei 4-3 on penalties to qualify for the semi-final of the 2022 AFC Asian Women’s Cup.
Quinley Quezeda had given the Philippines the lead in the 49th minute of the quarter-final game before Li-Ping Zhuo’s 82nd-minute goal for Chinese Taipei took the game beyond 90 minutes.
South Korea and Japan had earlier picked the first two tickets after winning the first two quarterfinal games on Sunday.

South Korea edged World Cup co-host, Australia 0-1 while former World Champions, Japan thrashed Thailand 7-0.

China picked the last ticket after recording a 3-1 win over Vietnam.
Shuang Wang, Shanshan Wang, and Jiali Tang scored for China while Tuyet Dung Thi Nguyen had given Vietnam an eleventh-minute lead.
Japan, South Korea, China, and the Philippines thus joined co-host, Australia and New Zealand in qualifying for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
