While June is still four months away, the background work to sign the player is already afoot with talks of the player preferring to move to Spain over the other leagues and this has put two Spanish rivals, Real Madrid and Barcelona in the driver’s seat for his signature.
Real Madrid are said to be in contact with Mino Raiola, Haaland’s agent to register their interest in bringing the player to the club in the summer but their priority still remains Mbappe but with the French striker set to arrive on a free transfer, the Los Blancos should have cash to shoulder the financial obligations it would take to sign the player and give him the type of salary he would demand.
A Norwegian television even suggested that a meeting reportedly took place between Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge Haaland and representatives of Real Madrid and they actually found an agreement being to take the player to the Spanish capital next season.
Barcelona president, Joan Laporta has already promised the club fans that he would bring the player to the Camp Nou next season and he already has a good rapport with his agent.
This should help smoothen talks as the Blaugrana look to revamp their squad and mount a serious challenge for the La Liga and UCL title next season, something they were not able to do this season.
The Catalans are also reported to be ready to pay him an annual salary of €20 million in addition to commission for his agent, Mino Raiola and also his father, Alfe-Inge Haaland to secure his signature.
The likes of Manchester United, PSG, Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also said to be highly interested and can afford to match his salary demands but the player’s preference seem to have knocked them out of the race but it is too early to tell for now.

The young prodigy was also present at the Camp Nou when Barcelona faced Napoli in the Europa League, also on the request of Barca as both teams jostle for his signature.
It is claimed that the forward came to Catalonia on Wednesday night and spent the entire Thursday touring Barcelona and learning about the Catalan capital, before attending the game in the evening.
