Chelsea winger Noni Madueke feels the “sky’s the limit” for Cole Palmer, who was crowned England’s men’s player of the year.

More Details

The 22-year-old has exceeded all expectations since leaving Manchester City for the London-based club last summer.

Palmer had a stellar debut season at Chelsea, contributing 11 goals and scoring 22 goals in the Premier League. Having inked a new contract that runs until 2033, Palmer is off to a great start this season.

In seven top-flight appearances this season, the forward has scored six goals and assisted five, including four goals in the first half of last month’s 4-2 victory over Brighton. He will be hoping to build on this performance in England’s Nations League doubleheader.

“Cole Palmer’s a very unique player,” Madueke said of his Chelsea team-mate.

“He’s a great footballer and I’m sure he’s going to produce for England just as he does for Chelsea.”

Palmer has referred to Madueke as his “brother” in the past, and the two have remained close ever since they shared an England Under-15 squad.

“Listen, Cole is a phenomenal player,” Madueke said. “In terms of the best player in the world, I don’t know if I should be the one to decide that!

“I think the sky’s the limit for him. I don’t know if he has a ceiling. I feel like the form that he’s showing now is incredible and I just hope he can continue that.”

Palmer was named England’s player of the year on Tuesday due to his achievements since making his debut for the country against Malta in November of last year.
