Michelle Agyemang may have entered UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 as England’s youngest squad member — but she left it a champion, a standout star, and the tournament’s Young Player of the Tournament.

The 19-year-old Arsenal forward made her major tournament debut with the Lionesses in Switzerland, helping England successfully defend their European title in what she describes as a “surreal and deeply humbling experience.”
But for Agyemang, the most lasting memory won’t just be lifting the trophy — it’s the warmth and support she received from her England teammates.
“They took me under their wing,” Agyemang told BBC Breakfast. “I’ve only been around for a short time, but they were so loving, kind and caring.”
Led by Experience and Kindness
Among those who welcomed her most was Alex Greenwood, Manchester City’s veteran defender, who has seen her share of tournament pressure. Greenwood, now 31, knows what it means to be the youngest in the squad — she was in that exact position a decade ago during the 2015 World Cup.

“No matter what, come to me and I will show you the ropes,” Greenwood told Agyemang during their first camp meeting — a gesture that stuck.
“A lot of them took me in because I was the youngest,” Agyemang said. “It can be hard sometimes, but everyone was so willing to help me.”

The camaraderie and inclusiveness of the squad made a lasting impression on the teenager, who admitted to initially feeling the weight of stepping into a senior team packed with international stars.
“Everyone Is Valued in This Team”
England’s team culture — fostered by head coach Sarina Wiegman — was key to Agyemang’s seamless transition.
Beyond the tactical excellence and clinical performances on the field, the Lionesses’ unity off the pitch made the difference.
