More Details

Since making his eagerly awaited Gunners debut last season, almost three years after they first signed him, Saliba has been essential to the team.

The center-back is a fantastic fit for Mikel Arteta’s style of play, and the team’s title challenge last season collapsed due to an injury that ended the season.

He has continued to grow in 2023–24, assisting his team in keeping the best defensive record in the Premier League after 14 games with just 11 goals allowed.

While many regard the France international as one of the finest in the Premier League at his position, Arsenal veteran Henry is adamant he is No. 1 and says as much, saying on Amazon Prime Sport: “Right now I think he is, by a mile.”

‘The way he can defend a 1 v 1, the way he allows Arsenal to stay higher [up the pitch] and defend the 45-50 yards behind him is second to none.

‘His speed, the way he recovers, and when he recovers the ball he doesn’t just kick it into the stands – he tries to get it back [to his teammates] which is important.

Meanwhile…

Erik ten Hag is anxious to prevent Jadon Sancho from making a “empty gesture,” therefore Manchester United is apparently willing to accept a “significant loss” on him.

Sancho has a disruptive impact on the rest of United’s team, according to manager Ten Hag, who is determined to get rid of the winger.

This season, Sancho and Ten Hag had a nasty falling out, with the Dutchman publicly criticizing his player in the media for his lack of effort in practice. After spending £73 million on him in 2021, United is now willing to suffer a “significant loss” on the player in the January transfer window.
