“This Game Will Be More Difficult” – El Shenawy

Written By Omolagba Oluwayemi
Speaking on Saturday night’s important clash against Espérance of Tunisia, veteran goal-keeper and captain of Al Ahly of Egypt, Mohamed El Shenawy believed his side will secure qualification for the final although he knows the second leg will be more difficult than the first leg played in Tunisia last Saturday.
Al Ahly got a 1-0 advantage win in Tunisia thanks to Mohamed Sherif’s 67th minute goal but with the return leg set for Saturday, 9:00 PM at Al Ahly WE Al Salam Stadium, there’s all to play for as fixtures between both sides in time past have always breeds interesting results no matter who is playing at home.
Speaking during the pre-match press conference on Friday and as reported by Al Ahly’s official website, El Shenawy said:
“We respect Esperance and we know that they have a very experienced squad. This game will be more difficult than the game in Tunisia. We have not qualified yet. We will fight to secure qualification.”
“We all know our situation and understand the difficulty of the game. In the first leg, we played in front of Esperance’s fans. We were focused and we knew what we wanted from the game.”
“We are not overconfident. We still have a second half here in Cairo and we hope to celebrate after the game.”
The veteran goal-keeper and captain will hope to lead his side to glory for the second consecutive year on the continent having led them to the final which they won last year.
