First there was the derby win over AC Milan last month. That was the match in which Inter actually clinched the title. And they did so in historic circumstances, securing the title in a derby for the first time in history. And that had seen the initial outpouring of emotion once Inter officially confirmed their status as champions.

Yesterday evening, Inter received the actual trophy for winning the title. This was another special party for the team and for the fans. But it was really the celebratory parade that saw Inter truly share in the joy of the title with their fans. Following a Serie A match against Torino, the entire Inter squad boarded a team bus.

They travelled from the San Siro to the Piazza Duomo. There were reportedly over 300,000 fans who showed up to celebrate. And the party went on for hours. Asked what the moment that he enjoyed most this season was, Inzaghi replied “Definitely all the scenes after the Inter Torino match.”

“And all the celebrations afterwards. “Our wonderful fans gave us something that was truly incredible,” added the Inter coach. “Our fans deserve this satisfaction,” he went on. “A beautiful evening, and deserved from the guys.”

“The league title as a coach is a different feeling,” Inzaghi noted, having won the Serie A title as a player with Lazio but never as a coach before this season. “I was a different age when I was a player. “This was the culmination of a job that I started a long time ago,” Inzaghi added.

“And as I said, it’s right to share it with everyone. The staff, the club, the fans.” And this group of wonderful players,” added the Nerazzurri coach. Now, attention will shift to the last game of the season, an away trip to Hellas Verona with the actual date and time yet to be determined due to the home side being involved in a fight to avoid relegation.

Meanwhile…

Inter Vice president, Javier Zanetti feels that the club have a hunger to keep winning, and says the Champions League is his ambition. He spoke to DAZN during the team’s Serie A title trophy presentation. As a player, Zanetti won every trophy available with Inter.

The Argentine captained the Nerazzurri to numerous league titles. He also wore the armband as the Nerazzurri lifted the Champions League trophy to complete the European Treble in 2010. As Inter Vice-President, Zanetti has also helped win numerous trophies. These include this season’s Serie A title.

That is the second that Zanetti has won in his current role. And Inter also reached last season’s Champions League final. But to date, the Nerazzurri have not won Europe’s biggest club competition with Zanetti working behind the scenes, as they had done while he was a player.

Speaking during the Nerazzurri’s trophy presentation after this evening’s match against Lazio, Zanetti said that “The team deserves to be on this path. “They’ve written one of the most important pages in Inter’s history,” the Vice-President went on.

“This group of guys deserves it. “We’ve become one with our wonderful fans,” Zanetti added. “The personal qualities were fundamental. They made the difference.” Zanetti hailed the players’ “Great sense of belong, both on and off the pitch. That’s not easy to find.”

Regarding the future, the Inter Vice-President said that “First of all, we have to thank Steven and the Suning group for everything they’ve done and are doing. “They deserve this league title. They wanted it and have built up this path little by little.”

“I hope that the future of this club is always positive,” Zanetti added. “We want to keep winning. “The Champions League would be my dream,” added the Vice-President. “I hope for it for all the guys, who’d deserve it.” He further added.
