Thomas Frank Slams ‘Unacceptable’ Spurs Crowd, Defends Squad After Fulham Debacle

Tottenham Hotspur gaffer Thomas Frank sharply criticized sections of the home crowd who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario during Saturday night’s 2-1 defeat against Fulham.

More Details

The incident occurred after a challenging start to the match at North London. Fulham, despite a poor away record, took an early lead in the fourth minute via Kenny Tete.

Just two minutes later, Vicario’s attempt to clear the ball after coming off his line inadvertently led to the ball being delivered to Harry Wilson, who scored an impressive, long-range curling goal—the second longest of the season.

The Spurs goalie was subsequently jeered by some home supporters whenever he touched the ball, a reaction that prompted a scathing and unhappy response from boss Thomas Frank.

Frank said after the game: “When you’re down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to climb. When you’re in a bad spell, everything seems to go against you as well – the first was a deflected shot, the second is a mistake from Vic [Guglielmo Vicario].

“I didn’t like that our fans booed at him straight after and a few times after that. They can’t be true Tottenham fans because everyone supports each other when you’re on the pitch and we do everything we can to perform. I’m fine with them booing after the match, no problem, but not during. That is unacceptable in my opinion.

“After that, we rushed the first half in many ways. We wanted to come back into the game but couldn’t do it in the first half, but we got much better in the second half. We got a bit of momentum, created more chances and opportunities, but couldn’t get the second goal.

“It was an emotional performance in the second half, and I think that’s quite normal. We know that we badly want to win at home, so when it’s not going your way, it is hard. That’s why you need to stick to the plan, be cool and not stress. It is easier said than done.”

The international break marked a downturn for Spurs, The North London-based club have now suffered three straight losses. While the first two were away fixtures against Arsenal and PSG, the team couldn’t secure a result upon their return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Their home record is notably poor: they’ve won only once in the Premier League at home this season and only three times at their stadium in all of 2025. This means they have claimed a meager five points from seven home games (1 win, 2 draws, 4 losses.
