While Alyssa Thompson has completed a landmark move to Chelsea for a reported fee in the region of £1 million, her younger sister Gisele Thompson has opted to extend her stay in Los Angeles, signing a new contract with Angel City FC until 2029.

Gisele Thompson: Long-Term Commitment in LA
The 19-year-old defender only joined Angel City last year but has quickly become one of the club’s standout performers.
She has already made 29 appearances and scored her first goal in May — assisted by none other than Alyssa.
On the international front, Gisele has broken into the USWNT, earning four caps so far.
“I love LA and signing this new contract makes sense for me and my career,” Thompson said.

Alyssa Thompson: Big-Money Move to Chelsea
Meanwhile, 20-year-old forward Alyssa Thompson has sealed a high-profile switch to Chelsea FC Women, signing a long-term deal and being handed the No. 12 shirt.
The USWNT international departs Angel City after 62 regular-season appearances, tallying 15 goals and 11 assists since becoming the youngest player ever drafted into the NWSL in 2023.

She now joins the reigning WSL champions, bringing with her 22 international caps and three goals since debuting against England in 2022.
Chelsea accelerated their pursuit of Thompson following a hamstring injury to Colombian forward Mayra Ramírez, finalizing the deal in one of the most notable NWSL-to-WSL transfers to date.
The Thompson sisters, once Angel City teammates and fan favorites, will now be pursuing silverware on opposite sides of the Atlantic — with Gisele anchoring ACFC’s future and Alyssa stepping into one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
