Despite the final score, the first half was fairly balanced. While Tigres controlled possession and had a slight advantage in shots, the Dynamo consistently pressed forward, creating six scoring opportunities in the initial 45 minutes.
Jonathan Bond played a crucial role in keeping the score tied early in the match, making several important saves. Notably, he made two critical stops within five minutes late in the first half that kept Dynamo in contention.
For instance, in the 36th minute, Diego Lainez received a pass in the 18-yard box and set up Edgar Lopez, whose shot was saved by Bond, maintaining the tie.
However, Tigres scored just before halftime. In the third minute of first-half added time, Juan Brunetta sent a long pass to Ángel Correa, who controlled the ball, turned, and scored from just outside the box, putting Tigres up 1-0 at the break.
