Tokyo 2020: Spain Beat Serbia to Stay Unbeaten In Women’s Basketball

The Spanish Women’s basketball team won its second group game at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics to brighten their quarter-final chances.
After a 72-68 defeat to Serbia in its opening game, Canada bounced back to defeat South Korea 74-53 in their second Group A game.
After losing the first two quarters 19-20, 22-24 to Serbia, Spain recovered to take the next two quarters with determined efforts after halftime.
An 18-14 win in the third quarter was followed by a 26-12 victory in the fourth quarter for the Spanish side.
Alba Torrens with 25 points, 1 rebound, and 3 assists was the top performer for Spain.
Her teammate, Astou Ndour scored 20 points and 9 rebounds.

The win was Spain’s second victory of the games after a 69-73 win over South Korea.

In the second group game, Canada returned to winning ways after opening game defeat to outclass South Korea 74-53.
Canada had an outstanding game winning all four quarters 16-15, 17-13, 16-11, 25-14.
Canada’s Bridget Charleton had 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. South Korea’s Park Ji-su was his team’s best performer with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists.
The results after the second group games meant that Spain remained at the top of Group A with 4 points followed by Canada (3 points), Serbia (3 points), and South Korea (2 points).
Canada will play group leaders, Spain in its final group games while South Korea and Serbia square up in the second game on August 1, 2021.
