The 29-year-old needed emergency medical assistance after falling to his knees in an off-the-ball incident in the 55th minute with no one nearby. Physios and doctors from both sides raced to help him.

The terrifying sequences brought up memories of the Play-Off final against Coventry from the previous season, when he was stretchered off the field at Wembley 11 minutes into the match.

Despite experiencing atrial fibrillation and undergoing surgery to treat his irregular pulse, Lockyer was cleared to resume playing and in June signed a contract extension with Luton.
