Tottenham Eye Eriksen Return As Madrid Targets Maddison

Written By Omolagba Oluwayemi

The cardiac arrest suffered by Eriksen in the last European Championship seems not to be slowing him down as the Denmark international has recovered his best version both with his national team and with Brentford, the team that signed him until next June 30.

More Details

This has led to his former side Tottenham Hotspur falling in love with him again and with only a short term deal signed with Brentford, Eriksen might once again play for Tottenham.

Although Brentford will offer him contract extension, the possibilities of the Dane accepting the offer looks slim as he has an offer on the table to return to Tottenham, a team from which he left in his day to sign with Inter Milan.

Although United have also contacted him, Spurs would have preference for the player, since they have Antonio Conte, who was his coach in the Italian squad and who would have conveyed his desire to have him again.

At the end of the season, Tottenham would recover one of the best midfielders they have had in the last decade, and also at zero cost.

Meanwhile…

In addition to reinforcing the attack with one of the leading players in current football, Mbappé or Haaland, Real Madrid is also working to strengthen the midfield and a notable player for the position is Leicester City’s James Maddison.

With Modric in the final stretch of his career, and without guaranteed substitutes for Kroos and Casemiro, the Chamartín club has set its sights on an opportunity in the next summer market to capture the Leicester midfielder.

Although Madrid will have to cough out €60M to get him, Maddison is an attacking midfielder who can also act as a left-footed midfielder.

This season he has 8 goals and 4 assists in the Premier League, as well as 2 goals in the Conference League.

Real Madrid has closely followed his performance and if other options available fails, Maddison would enter the equation.
