The 37-year-old’s options for 2025 and 2026 were included in the deal, which LA disclosed on Saturday. However, it was unclear if the player or the organization owned the options.

With 145 international matches under his belt, Lloris joins a league that has seen the addition of Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez (both 36) from Miami, as well as Sergio Busquets (35), since last summer.

Lloris was Spurs’ first-choice goalkeeper from 2012–13, when he replaced Brad Friedel, until the previous campaign. He won the 2018 World Cup with France.

On April 23, Lloris made his final appearance against Newcastle, where he gave up five goals in the first twenty-one minutes until Fraser Forster came on at the beginning of the second half. On May 5, the team announced that Lloris would miss the remainder of the campaign due to a thigh injury.

The team, which won its first MLS Cup trophy in 2022 and advanced all the way to the MLS Cup Final earlier this month before falling to Columbus 2-1, was slightly taken aback by Lloris’ purchase by LAFC. John McCarthy and Maxime Crépeau, two MLS Cup winners, were LAFC’s starting goalkeepers throughout those two seasons, although they are both free agents.

Luis Suárez, a five-time La Liga champion and winner of the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Champions League, and Copa América, has signed a deal with Inter Miami CF that will last until the 2024 Major League Soccer (MLS) season.

The legendary Uruguayan striker, who helped Grêmio win the Campeonato Gaúcho and Recopa Gaúcha and was voted the Brazilian league’s Best Player and Best Striker for his 26 goals and 17 assists in 53 appearances, will join the squad before to the start 2024 Major League Soccer season.

“We are happy to welcome world class striker Luis Suarez to our club. Luis is a fierce competitor whose winning drive embodies what we want out of our players. We promised our fans we would pursue the world’s best players to build a squad that can compete at the highest echelons in the Americas.
