Transfers: Juventus Interested In Atléti’s Renan Lodi

Italian giants Juventus are interested in bringing Atletico Madrid left-back Renan Lodi to Italy as a long-term replacement for fellow Brazilian Alex Sandro.

More Details

The Bianconeri defender has a contract with the Italian giants until June 2023, but he is anticipated to leave at the end of the 2021/22 season, and he could be replaced by a fellow countryman.

According to Tuttosport, some Juventus scouts were in Spain on Wednesday evening to witness Atletico Madrid draw 1-1 with Manchester United in the Champions League Round of 16, and they kept a close eye on Renan Lodi.

The Brazilian is under contract with Los Rojiblancos until June 2025, thus a transfer for the 23-year-old is unlikely.

Alex Sandro joined Juventus from Portuguese giants FC Porto in the summer of 2015 and he has played 262 competitive matches for the Bianconeri since then.

Renan Lodi joined Atletico Madrid from Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense ahead of the 2019/20 season, and he has so far made 104 appearances in all competitions for the club.

A disagreement between Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone and attacker Felix was reported earlier this month. Arsenal have previously expressed interest in Felix, but have now been given the opportunity to sign the 22-year-old, according to TEAMtalk (via Miguel Delaney’s newsletter with The Independent).

According to the Mirror, Felix signed a £113 million deal with Atletico Madrid, but had a falling out with manager Simeone after statements he made in an interview.

Speaking to The Athletic, Felix said: “I think we all know what the problem is [with the team], I don’t want to say though.” Although not overly controversial, the comments can be interpreted in different ways, potentially questioning the manager.
