Florentino Luis is the subject of interest from Real Madrid, according to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central. The 22-year-old Portuguese midfielder from Benfica is presently on loan at Getafe in La Liga.

Florentino Luis began his career at three different teams, including Benfica. The kid has spent over a decade with the Portuguese giants, making his first-team debut in February 2019. Since then, though, the 22-year-old has not made enough progress at Estadio da Luz.

The 22-year-old was on loan at AS Monaco for the 2020/21 season before joining Getafe on a season-long loan last summer. However, the Portuguese midfielder’s problems at Coliseum Alfonso Perez have continued, as he has only started seven games in all competitions. Real Madrid has been keeping a tight eye on Florentino all along.

Florentino appeared for Getafe against Real Madrid on Sunday, when the Azulones defeated Real Madrid 1-0. Los Blancos’ desire is both surprising and understandable. Because Casemiro will be 30 next year, Real Madrid will need to put in place a succession plan for him.

However, Real Madrid might not launch the offensive for the 22-year-old Portuguese midfielder as he has not shown enough potential at Getafe. So, while the La Liga heavyweights have been closely monitoring his progress, Florentino seems destined to return to Benfica at the end of the season. It remains to be seen who becomes the key midfield target for Real Madrid.

Getafe manager Quique Sanchez has confessed to being a Real Madrid fan over the years and revealed his admiration for the club.

“Real Madrid have been very good all season” Quique Sanchez Flores revealed. “They have the best young players in the competition, young players that are capable of being starters and decisive. They have been working very well in the preparation of each game— including managing the minutes of their more veteran players.”

Quique Sanchez Flores then went on to compliment the club as a whole and the work of Florentino Perez. “As a club, it is one that always inspires respect. It seems to me that Real Madrid currently have the best president in their history, and that is with all due respect and love to Santiago Bernabéu.”
