Transfers: Roma Turns To Koopmeiners As Xhaka Trail Fades Off

Written by Dare Solomon
Jose Mourinho had his eyes on Arsenal midfielder, Granit Xhaka as his prime target but that move seems far off with the Swiss international set to renew his contract with the London based club.
Teun Koopmeiners, a 23-year-old Dutch midfielder, has spent his entire career with Alkmaar but really found his groove over the past two seasons, scoring 30 goals and chipping in 10 assists in 70 appearances in all competitions.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, AS Roma are turning their attention to the AZ Alkmaar captain as the Serie A side have been in contact with the 23-year-old’s management.
With Atalanta also interested in the defensive midfielder, the Giallorossi face a strong battle in securing the services of Koopmeiners valued at approximately €17 million.
