Yesterday, they defeated Lecce 2-0 away from home with goals from Evan Ferguson and Artem Dovbyk, two players with uncertain future at the club and and the former Atalanta manager decided to boycott the post-match interviews to highlight his unhappiness over the club’s transfer strategy.
It is no secret that Gasperini expects reinforcements in attack, with Giacomo Raspadori and Joshua Zirkzee among his favourite targets for the January window, but negotiations are progressing slowly and Frederic Massara, the club director said before the Lecce game that signing a new centre-forward wasn’t a priority.
Despite his recent goals, Gasperini is still not impressed by Ferguson and Dovbyk and has long been asking for attacking reinforcements behind the scenes and according to the report, the Italian tactician will meet one of the club owners, Ryan Friedkin, today to discuss Roma’s strategy.
Friedkin has been in Italy since January 5, and it remains to be seen whether his father Dan, will also attend the meeting but in the meantime, according to a separate report from CorSport, the club management remain in “constant contact” with Gasperini ahead of a meeting that will likely clarify the club’s winter transfer plans.
In a related deveccording to Gazzetta dello Sport, Massara is travelling to Milan, where he’ll meet Raspadori’s agents as according to them and other sources, the Giallorossi and Atletico Madrid have already shaken hands, but Raspadori hasn’t yet made up his mind about his future.
Furthermore, Lazio, Atalanta, Napoli and Galatasaray are also interested in securing his services but Roma have pushed the hardest so far as Gasperini has been pushing for attacking reinforcements, and both Raspadori and Zirkzee are among his top targets to help elevate the attack.
On the other hand, they could offer Napoli a swap deal with Dovbyk as the Ukrainian forward is struggling to settle in and the player that they would request for is Lorenzo Lucca who has scored two goals in 20 appearances across all competitions with Napoli this season, while Dovbyk has netted three times in 17 outings with Roma.

Apart from making a signing, the club will also try to identify which player that they would have sacrifice either this January or late in the summer as they currently face punishment from UEFA for breaching the financial fair rule unless they make huge sales in the transfer market with Manu Kone almost leaving last summer.
