The Chicago Red Stars and Houston Dash are now out of head coaching limbo as the teams get their front offices together in preparation for 2024.

More Details

Chicago announced the hiring of former Jamaica national team manager Lorne Donaldson this week.

Houston is planning to announce the hiring of Celtic FC manager Fran Alonso, according to a report in The Equalizer.

The two hirings leave only the Washington Spirit without a permanent manager going into 2024, though the D.C. club has been linked to outgoing FC Barcelona manager Jonatan Giráldez.

The Red Stars still need to fill their general manager position but have found a club president in Karen Leetzow, previously chief legal officer of U.S. Soccer.

Chicago finished the 2023 season in last place and is facing a rebuild.

Donaldson has never coached at the women's professional club level, but he recently led Jamaica to the World Cup Round of 16 for the first time.

He also trained a number of National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) stars at the youth level in Colorado, including top Red Stars free agency target Mallory Swanson, as well as Sophia Smith, Jaelin Howell, and others.

Alonso has managed Celtic women to two Scottish Cups, a League Cup, and two second-place finishes in the Scottish Women’s Premier League.
