Two NWSL Teams In Contention To Win Maiden CONCACAF Women’s Champions Cup

After a competitive group stage, the maiden edition of the CONCACAF Women’s Champions Cup is now at the business end as four teams scaled through the group hurdles to the semi-finals.

Mexican side UANL Tigres finished top of Group A with 10 points after four games ahead of National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) champions Gotham FC, which also made it to the semi-final with eight points.

Monterrey, Alajuelense, and Frazsiers Whip bowed out of the tournament at the group stage.

In Group B, another Mexican side, Club America, reigned supreme with nine points to sail through to the last four ahead of NWSL franchise Portland Thorns with nine points as the two teams made it to the latter stage of the competition.



Another NWSL side, the San Diego Wave, missed out on an inferior goal difference after finishing the group stage with nine points.

Vancouver Whitecaps and Sante Fe will take no further part in the competition.

For the semi-finals, Tigres and Portland Thorns will face off in the first game on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

This will be followed by Club America’s clash win Gotham FC with the final and third place matches billed for Sunday, May 25, 2025.

The winner of the tournament will clinch the maiden CONCACAF Women’s club competition for the first time with the chance to feature at the maiden FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.
