Written By Albert Echatah
Paris-Saint-Germain are ‘more optimistic than ever’ that they can overcome Liverpool’s 1-0 deficit and advance to the quarterfinals of the Champions League on Tuesday night.
More Details
Harvey Elliott’s late goal gave the Reds an improbable triumph in Paris last week, and the French champions come to Anfield behind by one goal.

Elliott’s goal might prove to be a pivotal one in the match, and Liverpool has won a first leg away in Europe 39 times without failing to advance. And it’s hardly surprising that the Reds have such a successful record with Anfield on their side.
However, it doesn’t appear to be a problem for PSG, who have apparently just become more confident after dominating the first leg on Wednesday night.
In fact, Luis Enrique’s team had 27 shots compared to Liverpool’s two, and Alisson Becker was in outstanding form that evening, making nine stops. The Brazilian acknowledged that it might have been his best effort to yet.
PSG was ‘surprised by Liverpool’s level,’ according to reports, and they think that both Arsenal and Bayern Munich, Liverpool’s group stage rivals, are more complete teams than the Reds. The players are reportedly “obsessed” with the second leg since the Parisians were displeased with what they perceived to be time-wasting tactics from their visitors.

A club source informed the renowned French daily L’Équipe, “They are more confident (about qualifying) now than they were before the match, despite the defeat.”
The claims are consistent with how PSG’s players responded to their unexpected loss on Wednesday, with a number of players publicly expressing their opinion that the match is still up for grabs at Anfield.
Most PSG players all expressed their belief that the Paris-based club will improve the situation on Merseyside. And when his team defeated Rennes 4-1 on Saturday, manager Enrique undoubtedly gave the impression that he was going all out for success versus Liverpool by making a lot of changes.
