Unstoppable Vlahovic Doubles Juventus To Another Victory In Empoli

It was another night of goals for goals for Serbian International Dusan Vlahovic as his brace brought Juventus a 3-2 victory over Empoli.

Striker partner Moise Kean started the journey for three points, but not without a fight from the home team Empoli with goals from Zurkowski and La Mantia.

With half of the regular starters injured or half fit, coach Maximiliano Allegri’s team struggled at the starting stage of the match with Empoli playing a high pressing football.


With just over half an hour on the clock, Juventus took the lead and it was Kean on the end of a flowing move started by Vahovic on the half-way line. As the ball was worked down the left, Adrien Rabiot’s cross was headed home by Kean from six yards out.

Empoli evened the scoreline on the 40th minutes after home team failed to clear a corner kick and Symon Zurkowsi reacted quickest to prod the ball into the net from close range.

Juventus will not go into the break without a lead so Arthur in stoppage time intercepted a ball in the midfield who passed to Juan Cuadrado, with the ball moved swiftly and passed to Vlahovic cool smartly put the ball at the back of an empty net after his dummy.

Twenty minutes into the second half, Vlahovic doubled his goal on the night after substitute Morata set off on the break and rolled the ball into the path of Vlahovic, who lobbed the onrushing Vicario giving Juventus a 3-1 lead.

Empoli refused to lie down and a spate of substitutions gave the home side a lease of life. Andrea La Mantia broke away from Juventus’ attack and l drove the ball low into the net. 


A few after Moise Kean’s goal, the joy of the goal was replaced by injury fears as Denis Zakaria limped off, replaced by Manuel Locatelli. 

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, it is believed to be an adductor issue that will require more tests to analyse the extent of the damage, but an initial diagnosis is circa two weeks.

Nine Juventus’ players will be out of  Wednesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final against Fiorentina at the Stadio Franchi.

Federico Chiesa and Kaio Jorge are out for the season following knee surgery, while Weston McKennie is on the treatment table for at least two months with a double metatarsal fracture in his foot.

All the others – Paulo Dybala, Alex Sandro, Daniele Rugani, Federico Bernardeschi, Giorgio Chiellini and Zakaria – are muscular injuries.
