Current Italian League leaders, Napoli are said to be seriously considering making a move for out of favour Spanish midfielder, Riqui Puig and have identified him as a player to be acquired in the summer.

Puig has found game time hard to come by at the Nou Camp recently. The talented midfielder has struggled to impress in the limited game time he has received this season.

While he got a few game time under the previous manager, Xavi Hernandez seems to have settled on the trio of Frankie De Jong, Pedri, Gavi and Nico Gonzalez as his first choice midfielders.

The Spaniard has made just 13 appearances for the Catalan giants during this campaign but has failed to register a goal or an assist thus far and is said to be considering his future at the club.

The player, who is just 22-years still has a lot to offer but to be able to do that, he has to play regularly, hence the need to move away from the Camp Nou in search of first team football.

A move to Napoli will be beneficial to the player as the two teams play almost the same style of football, hence, he will acclimatize much more quicker there than joining another team.

Barcelona on their part, are said to be interested in signing Napoli midfielder, Fabian Ruiz but have not really firmed up their interest due to his price tag.

With the possibility of including Puig in the deal, both teams can come to terms and reach an agreement, depending on how much the Italians want the player.

Puig has a wide range of passes and is usually quite tidy when playing his way out from midfield. He has got the vision to pick out a killer pass in the attacking end of the pitch too and could prove to be a key signing if he should join the Naples-based club side.

Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez could prove to be major reason on whether contract rebel, Ousmane Dembele leaves the club at the end of the season or decides to renew with the club.

With his contract set to expire in June and the player expected to walk away from the club as a free agent, it was expected that the player would be confined to the bench and comeo appearances, especially considering the fact that the club brought in three forwards during the January transfer window, but reverse has been the case.

While, he doesn’t start much, he does get plenty minutes of football and Xavi seem to trust him enough to play him when the club are in need of goals and he hasn’t disappointed either.

lthough, it’s being reported that no sign of resumption of talks between the club and the player, club president, Joan Laporta recently made it clear that there’s still room for that as long as the player is willing to stay and accept their terms.

If he can stay fit and continue with his fine form, he just might renew with the club and it will be largely due to Xavi and his decision to continue to use the player despite his contract situation.
