US Soccer Is Returning To Collegiate Level

US Soccer has announced the formation of the NextGen College Soccer Committee (NCS), aimed at reinforcing the role of NCAA soccer within the federation’s development framework.
More Details
The NCS intends to more thoroughly integrate the college game into the wider US Soccer ecosystem while ensuring it continues to serve as a robust and sustainable platform for student-athlete education, player development, and community involvement.
As professional soccer opportunities grow for women, more prospects are choosing to sign directly with clubs after high school instead of pursuing the conventional college soccer route.
In many other countries, it is common for young players to bypass college in favor of professional contracts, as numerous clubs operate their own academies for talented youth.

With this week’s announcement, US Soccer seems to recognize the difficulties in preserving the appeal of NCAA soccer amidst a growing array of professional opportunities, while simultaneously reaffirming the importance of college soccer.
“College soccer is essential to the fabric and future of our sport in this country,” stated US Soccer CEO JT Batson. “The individuals joining this group offer distinct insights and expertise that will assist us in creating a model where college soccer can flourish within a modern, interconnected system.
