USMNT Prodigy Set For Long Term Barcelona Extension

Diego Kochen has been tipped for a long term stay at Barcelona and he is set to sign a contract extension until 2028 which might be officially announced this week as both parties have agreed on a long term continuity.

The highly-rated 18-year-old USMNT goalkeeper, Diego Kochen has reportedly committed his future to Barcelona by signing a new four-year contract although it hasn’t been officially confirmed. The deal, which runs until 2028, secures the talented youngster’s future at the Catalan club.

Kochen is viewed as a promising prospect and a potential long-term successor to Barcelona’s current number one goalkeeper. Despite announcing a new contract earlier this year, it has now been confirmed that the deal was not finalized at the time as per ESPN.



Barcelona are looking to secure their future between the posts. With Marc-André ter Stegen nearing the latter stages of his career, the Catalan giants have identified Nico Kochen as a potential long-term successor.

The 18-year-old USMNT goalkeeper, who is also eligible to represent Venezuela and Peru has impressed with his performances for Barcelona Atletic. He has made seven appearances for the B-team this season and has been included in the USMNT’s last two international squads.

Kochen has also gained valuable experience training with the first team, serving as their third-choice goalkeeper. However, he faces competition from Ander Astralaga for the number one spot at Barcelona Atletic and with his new contract, he’s deemed as one of the untransferable players in the youth set up.
