The draw for the Olympic group stage is set, with the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) playing Germany, and Australia and the winner of Morocco/Zambia in Group B.

The USWNT will begin their Olympics on July 25 in Nice against either Morocco or Zambia.

It will be the team’s first time facing off against either African nation.

On the flip side, the USWNT has met Australia 34 times, with the Matildas winning just one of those matchups.

Germany is currently ranked fifth in the world according to FIFA, just ahead of the fourth-ranked US.

The US holds a 23-5-7 record against the two-time World Cup champions.

They've met in the Olympics just once, a 2004 semifinal that the USWNT won.


The other Olympic groups are as follows:

Group A: Defending Olympic champion Canada will face Colombia, New Zealand, and host team France.

Group C: World Cup champion Spain will play Japan, Brazil, and the winner of April's Nigeria-South Africa playoff.

The United States (US) has two more rounds of friendlies before leaving for Paris: two to be played in June against the Korea Republic and two against a yet-to-be-named opponent in July.
