The United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) started their final games of the calendar year strong on Saturday, taking down China People’s Republic (PR) 3-0.

Sophia Smith, Lindsey Horan and Trinity Rodman each scored in a loose and confident United States (U.S.) performance.

Rodman finished the day with contributions on all three goals, notching two assists in addition to her own tally.

The USWNT overwhelmed China with 65% possession and 11 shots on goal.

“This camp is, we’ve been saying, ‘starting fresh,’" Rodman told TNT afterward.

“In Trin’s words, she’s got a different level of focus,” USWNT interim head coach Twila Kilgore said.

“She’s just been really intentional. We see that in training. We see that in games."

National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Rookie of the Year Jenna Nighswonger earned her first USWNT cap, alongside 18-year-old Portland Thorns midfielder Olivia Moultrie.

Nighswonger had been listed as a midfielder on the U.S. roster, but subbed onto the field on Saturday as a defender.
