With the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) roster set internally, players in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) competed this past weekend while already knowing their status.

More Details

Reported USWNT debutante Savannah DeMelo’s scoring tear continued for Louisville, while Thorns forward Sophia Smith kept her own streak alive.

World Cup players in the NWSL only have one more game weekend left before they depart for their respective national team camps.

The NWSL will primarily play Challenge Cup matches during the World Cup period, though players will miss at least one regular season match.

The USWNT’s attacking firepower was on full display in league play last weekend.

DeMelo, Smith, and Ashley Sanchez all secured results for their teams, with Smith just one goal back in the NWSL Golden Boot race.

Outside the USWNT, Brazil’s Kerolin scored her league-leading eighth goal of the regular season for the Courage.

USWNT star Lynn Williams is staying with Gotham FC through the 2025 season.

Williams was set to be a free agent at the end of the year after joining the New Jersey club in an unexpected trade this past offseason.

Williams has provided an immediate boost to a Gotham side that struggled in 2022, scoring six goals in the regular season so far.

Her impeccable form has been a welcome return after she dealt with a hamstring tear for most of 2022.

“This is a special team with talented players and a supportive coaching staff that has allowed me to thrive. I cannot wait to see what we can accomplish together over these next few years,” Williams said in a team release.
