USWNT Line Up Blockbuster Slate

The United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) has fielded criticism recently for not facing strong enough opponents, but they are making up for it with their end-of-year slate.

United States (U.S) Soccer announced this week that the team will play Spain in October, followed by Germany in back-to-back November friendlies.
These games, combined with their huge matchup against England, mean the U.S. will go up against some of the best teams Europe has to offer.
England are the reigning European champions, No. 2 Germany are the Euro runners-up, and No. 8 Spain has excelled at the youth and club levels for years.

The USWNT will travel to Europe in early October to play England and Spain.
Germany coming to the U.S. for games in New Jersey and Florida is significant, as the USSF has struggled to entice the world’s best to the States in recent years.
Reasons for that did involve teams’ Euros preparation, investment in domestic friendly tournaments, and uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic.
